Day 01: Arrival in Lucknow and drive to Nepalgunj

upon arrival in lucknow, you will be greeted at the airport or train station and transferred to nepalgunj. The drive will take approximately 5 hours to cover the 180 km distance. Overnight stay in nepalgunj.
Distance: Lucknow to nepalgunj – 180 km (5 hours)

Day 02: Nepalgunj – simikot – hilsa – taklakot

Early morning, at 5:00 a.m., we will transfer you to nepalgunj airport for your flight to simikot. The flight lasts about an hour, passing over nepal’s remote mountainous regions, which are often cloudy and unpredictable. It is recommended to fly early in the morning when weather conditions are calmer. Simikot, situated at 2910 m, offers an ideal stop for acclimatization. Simikot has a stol (short take-off and landing) airport, which can only accommodate small aircraft carrying up to 15 people.
We will stay overnight in simikot for acclimatization before proceeding to the next part of the journey.
Afterward, we will board a helicopter for the 25-minute flight to hilsa. The helicopter ride passes through deep gorges and narrow valleys. We use eurocopters (b3), each carrying 5 passengers with a baggage limit of 10 kg per person.
Once the group has arrived in hilsa, we will cross the border and drive to taklakot. Per chinese visa regulations, the group must enter and exit together, so we will not proceed until all members are present.
The drive from hilsa to taklakot takes around 45 minutes.
Flight: Nepalgunj to simikot (45 minutes, twin otter or dronier)

Day 03: Rest in taklakot for acclimatization

A rest day in taklakot is essential for acclimatization before proceeding with the circumambulation (parikrama) around mount kailash. This will help ensure your safety and comfort during the journey.

Day 04: Taklakot – lake mansarovar

Day 05: Chiugompa – darchen – yama dwara – trek to deraphuk

The sacred circumambulation around kailash begins today. After breakfast, we drive to yama dwara (tarboche), about 1.5 hours from lake manasarovar, where we will stop in darchen for permits.
The trek from yama dwara to deraphuk takes 4-5 hours, covering a flat, mild ascent. The trek is manageable, but the high elevation may make it necessary to take frequent breaks.

Day 06: Deraphuk to Zutulphuk

Today, we begin the challenging ascent to dolma la, the highest point of the trek at 5600 m. The trail is steep but flattens as you approach the summit. After reaching dolma la, we descend towards zutulphuk, passing gaurikunda, a small glacial pool associated with hindu legend. The descent can be treacherous, so caution is advised.

Day 07: End trek and drive back to taklakot

After completing the circumambulation, we trek 6 km to the end point. The remaining 105 km drive to taklakot will take about 2 hours.
Trek: Zutulphuk to trek end point (8 km, 3 hours)
drive: Trek end point to taklakot (105 km, 2 hours)

Day 08: Drive taklakot – hilsa and fly to simikot – nepalgunj

We will drive to hilsa, where immigration formalities are completed. After crossing the karnali river suspension bridge, we will fly back to simikot and then continue to nepalgunj. If weather permits, we will reach nepalgunj by 9 a.m., followed by the drive back to lucknow (5 hours).
Drive: Taklakot to hilsa (27 km, 45 minutes)

  • Personal expenses, soft drinks, and bottled beverages.
  • Tips for guides and drivers.
  • Extra accommodation charges due to flight cancellations.
  • International flight tickets.
  • 5% gst on additional services.

Cancellation Policy

  • After the Group-Naming list has been submitted for the permit, any cancellations will incur a fee of USD 500 per person. (The permit application is made 60 days prior to the travel date).
  • If the Yatri cancels the tour 45 Days before the date of departure, 75% of total payment will be refunded.
  • If the Yatri cancels the tour 30 Days before the date of departure, 50% of total payment will be refunded.
  • If the Yatri cancels the tour 15 Days before the date of departure, NO payment will be refunded.

Emergency Departure and Associated Costs

In the event of an unforeseen emergency requiring a Yatri to depart the Yatra prematurely and seek to return, the Yatri will be fully responsible for any additional costs incurred due to this early departure. These expenses may include, but are not limited to:

  • Permit and visa cancellations
  • Transportation costs (e.g., return travel)
  • Meals and lodging
  • Medical care
  • Emergency rescue services
  • Any supplementary nights spent on the Nepal side of the journey
  • The Yatri will bear the full financial responsibility for these costs.
