The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a revered pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in Tibet, significant in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the Bon religion. Mount Kailash is considered Lord Shiva’s divine abode, while Mansarovar Lake is believed to have purifying powers. The Yatra (tour), which takes place from May to September, requires special permits due to the high-altitude terrain. The parikrama (circumambulation) around Mount Kailash is especially significant, as it is believed to cleanse karmic debt and bring devotees closer to moksha (Salvation), breaking the cycle of birth and death.
The tour includes a 17-day pilgrimage, starting in Kathmandu with sightseeing, shopping, and briefings before traveling through Nepal and Tibet. Pilgrims complete the sacred parikrama around Mount Kailash and visit significant sites like Mansarovar Lake, Lhasa city, Darchen, Shivsthal, Gauri Kund and Yamdwar. The journey concludes with a return to Kathmandu, with accommodations ranging from hotels to guesthouses and dormitory-style stays during the trek.
